Editorial Guidelines
Long-distance couples make expensive decisions: flights, devices, visa filings. These guidelines explain how we keep the information behind those decisions accurate.
Sources by topic
| Topic | Where the facts come from |
|---|---|
| Visas and immigration | Government sites such as USCIS, the US Department of State and equivalent agencies in other countries |
| Government fees | The official fee schedule, dated when checked |
| Gadgets and apps | The maker’s product page, help center or app store listing |
| Flight tools | The tool’s own pricing and terms pages |
| Relationship research | Named studies and organizations, cited every time |
Not immigration advice
Visa articles describe processes in general terms. They can’t account for an individual history, and they’re no substitute for a licensed immigration attorney or accredited representative. Each visa page links to the official source so you can confirm the current rules yourself.
How products make a list
Gift guides and gadget roundups state what they’re looking for: price, shipping to the countries couples most often live in, whether both partners need a device, app requirements, and battery or subscription costs. Entries rely on published information, and we don’t claim to have used the products ourselves.
Sponsored and gift-guide spots
Paid articles are labeled “Sponsored,” and their outbound paid links are marked rel="sponsored nofollow". A brand that pays for a gift-guide spot is shown as sponsored and still has to meet the guide’s criteria.
Keeping pages current
Fees and processing rules change with little warning. Send corrections to editorial@couplecompassnotes.com with a link to the source, and we’ll update the page and its date.
